Like other sectors, the food industry is indirectly affected by the war in Ukraine, which is affecting the availability of certain raw materials for food production. Due to the shortage of some raw materials, manufacturers are forced to replace them with other raw materials, which, however, are not able to immediately and correctly indicate on the packaging of finished products as required by the relevant legislation.
In this spirit, the State Agricultural and Food Inspection Authority has stated that it will proceed correctly during the inspections and will take these facts into account. However, manufacturers will have to demonstrate that it has not been possible to obtain a comparable raw material and also that the use of the alternative raw material will not endanger safety in any way.
